THIS IS HOW WROCŁAW SOUNDS
Over the years, following the event’s name, we have invited artists responsible for “what Wrocław sounds like”. The concerts took place in winter in Impart and often included premiere performances, original musical collaborations and special projects. Over time, the formula was expanded to include shows by foreign performers, but local patriotism remained. For the next few years, a person from Wrocław’s music world was appointed a curator (2017 – Marcin Cichy from the duo Skalpel, 2018 – musicians from the EABS group, 2019 – Maciek Szabatowski, journalist RAM radio).
In 2018, the festival underwent a ground-breaking image change, becoming an outdoor event. The date and place of the event have changed – the outdoor stage has been placed in the backyard, hidden at the back of Impart. We celebrated our tenth birthday under the slogan #backyard, among others, with the EABS and PRO8L3M team.
During the 2019 edition, we created a new space filled with music in the square in front of Impart. The ambition to build an event with room for good rap, jazz experiments, sophisticated electronics or songwriters with a setlist full of hits has remained unchanged. In June, Wrocław hosted, among others: Michael Kiwanuka, Sokół + Gości, SOHN, ONUKA and Król.
The implementation of the 2k20 edition was prevented by the coronavirus pandemic, which is why we immediately focused on moving the program to next year. In 2021, WROsound was held under the slogan urban jungle for the first time; it gained an official mascot, a second stage dedicated to local artists and a mission related to the organization and implementation of the event in the spirit of good practices – especially pro-ecological ones.
URBAN JUNGLE & LESS WASTE
Currently, WROsound is a lifestyle event with two stages – the main stage on the square in front of Impart and the “Tak Brzmi Wrocław” stage in Impart’s backyard.
The slogan urban jungle once again symbolizes the space where the festival takes place – the green square in front of Impart in the heart of Wrocław and our original music choices that fill this space.
We still care not only about good music, but we also implement the less waste method in the organization and implementation of the event. We convert advertising media into bags that have been used for years, provide free access to water, limit printed matter, facilitate participation in sustainable transport, drive electric cars, reduce plastic to a minimum, and build scenography from used items or live plants.
We work with responsible partners. Among them are: Motorpol Wrocław, Ekosystem, MPWiK, Dotlenieni.org, Nextbike, Wynalazki, Pan Kwiaciarz, Trashki Upcycling.
In 2022, in Wrocław’s Osobowicki forest, we planted 1,000 seedlings of pedunculate oak (WROsoundowy las) – in cooperation with the start-up Dotlenieni.org and the Motorpol Wrocław team.
