Król

Błażej Król is one of the most successful musicians and songwriters of the young generation. The first album of the UL/KR (duo with Maurycy Kiebzak Górski) evoked enthusiastic reviews and was hailed as the Album of the Year 2012 by music journalists of the “Agora” publishing house. Positive reviews of the album also appeared in Newsweek, Przekrój and industry magazines, ensuring a leading position in the rankings of the most important alternative, electronic and indie rock music albums released in Poland. 2015 was marked by other prestigious awards received by Król for his albums: Grzegorz Ciechowski City of Toruń Artistic Award and a nomination for the Paszporty Polityki Award. The justification of the nomination reads: “Wij was described in Polityka as an album full of paradoxes — cold and simultaneously romantic, synthetic in its sound, but at the same time natural in its expression… The economical form of very short songs has become its hallmark, with single words, associations, metaphors, every phrase, sound and pause playing important role” (Polityka, 8.12.2015). In 2016, Błażej Król was honoured with the Janusz Słowik Gorzów Prize, and a year later he also received the Butterfly Cultural Award of the Mayor of Gorzów Wielkopolski. The latest album, Przewijanie na podglądzie, was released in March 2018 to critical acclaim and great reviews from the listeners, who appeared in large numbers at concerts promoting the album. The latest album brought Król the Mateusz Trójki Award. Król performed with his band at the biggest festivals and music events in Poland, including the Open’er Festival, Off Festival, Męskie Granie, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Springbreak and many others.
